As most of us living in Canada know, we've had a pretty cold start to the new year. We ushered in 2015 with a couple of weeks of day-time highs in the mid minus twenties, with wind chills putting us all the way down into the minus thirties. There was also a week there where we had some pretty strong westerly winds, too; into the 40km/hour with 60km/hour gusts. It was cold, to say the least.
Although we were fortunate enough to buy an “all season” RV to get us by until the house is done, even these temperatures were a little too much for it. One evening we had to deal with a freezing water line, as well as keeping propane tanks warm enough to allow the propane in them to turn to gas for the furnace and stove to function.
But, so far, we've been able to address all of these issues and soldier on. We thank the Lord for watching over us and giving us the means to meet and overcome all of our winter challenges. We also thank Him for now giving us a bit of a reprieve, with some above normal temperatures for the next week or so (if the forecasts are correct). Besides, the cold weather will be behind us in a few short weeks, then we'll be busy with our plans for the spring.
We knew that living out here, up close and personal with the elements, would have its challenges. But we also have faith in the Lord seeing us through and providing everything we need to succeed. And it's been a wonderful experience for which we've very grateful. Trust in Him is always rewarded - just look at this sunset we had to look at this evening with our supper!
