LED lighting installed

We decided to install some recessed lighting in the ceiling, while we were putting up the panelling. Because we want to use solar power in the house as much as possible, we went with these really amazing LED spot light we found at Lee Valley.

We installed four lights per side of the house (for a total of eight lights). The four on the kitchen side are controlled by a switch and the four on the living room side are controlled by a dimmer switch. Rather than waste battery power by using the AC power inverter - which came with the lights - we hooked them up directly to the solar battery bank, via a 10 amp breaker.

Although these are LED lights, they are bright and provide more than enough ambient lighting for the house. Best of all, these lights only use one watt of power. And because they operate at 12 volts, having all eight of the lights on in the house only use up half an amp of power. That is really awesome!

They are a comfortable warm white light, too. And once we have the trim up on the ceiling, it all should look really nice.

Blessings.
